Starting this past June, LHM was pleased to be working with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Republic of Chile (IELCHI) on a mission project to plant churches in Chile’s capital of Santiago.
As part of this plan LHM opened a new Cristo Para Todas Las Naciones (CPTLN) ministry center June 1 in Santiago, a bustling metro area with more than six million inhabitants living in 35 areas. The new center is under the supervision of the CPTLN center in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is being funded by a special grant from the Schwan Foundation in support of the new mission by the IELCHI.
LHM was invited to partner in this new venture. The mission center and CPTLN office are housed together in the busy area of the capital city known as La Florida. The coordinator for the CPTLN ministry is Marianela Bravo Oryazun. She is working closely with Rev. Alberto Groh, longtime director of LHM’s ministry center in Argentina, to familiarize her with the administrative aspects of the job and to consider outreach strategies that will be effective. Please pray for the success of this new ministry.

Argentina Office
a Busy Ministry
Established in 1947, the LHM office center in Buenos Aires is one of the League’s oldest outreach ministries and is still operating in a country of 40 million people. The LHM is known as “Fundacion Cristo Para Todas Las Naciones” or Foundation of Christ for all Nations (FCPTLN).
The office produces 30-second radio spots entitled “Enfoque” (Focus) that reach people by using thought-provoking phrases about daily life issues such as marriage, divorce, friendship and violence. These are aired on 21 stations to a potential audience of more than 20 million listeners in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. Tapes of the programs are sent to stations in Spain.
The extensive audience of the Radio Outreach makes it one of the most useful tools for spreading the Gospel throughout the Spanish-speaking world.

Today in Guatemala
As I’m on the subject of our Spanish-speaking nations, I’ll add the Central American country of Guatemala, land of the Mayans. LHM established a ministry center in Guatemala City in 1993; its current director is Rebeca de Franco. Guatemala is home to about 12,300,000 of which 30% are Protestant.
How does the center spread the Gospel? They feature Bible correspondence courses; they participate in Project JOEL, a children’s outreach program; they are prominent in newspaper ads, web site links, devotionals and booklets; video rentals; LCMS mission groups; a theater group; and the Equipping the Saints (ETS) training.
As you can see, LHM is a large part of spreading the Gospel to people in Spanish language nations. With your prayers and support you will be a missionary and part of the Great Command!
