Dr. Mary Manz Simon, author of Trend Savvy Parenting, will speak at Trinity Lutheran Church & School-Orlando on Sunday, September 23, at 2 p.m.
In her book, she identifies 34 trends that touch families today. She answers three questions for each trend: What is it? Why should I care? What should I do? Her presentation will focus on identifying and responding trends that affect children. Simon has built a career out of car pools and soccer games. Her books which fall under the umbrella of practical parenting advice have sold more than two million copies and are available in nine languages. Her daily radio program is heard on more than 200 stations, and her magazine articles and national convention presentations reach thousands annually. Its so important to find peer parents who share your values, veteran parents who can help you look down the road, and experts who can help you see how everything fits together, Simon said. Region 12 of Lutheran Student Fellowship will have its Fall Service Retreat at Grace Lutheran-Jacksonville, FL, September 21-23.
All college students throughout Florida and Georgia and all of Region 12 are welcome to participate. We will be working in the city of Jacksonville on various service projects, reported Pastor Greg Michael of Christus Victor Lutheran Church and Student Center. It is a great opportunity for college students to come together for Christian fellowship and service. Cost is $25.
