FREE HUGS — To create a warm feeling when someone walks into church for worship, members of Christ The King-Largo, FL, have started a Free Hugs program based on a video that played on You Tube. The program started this spring for the 11 a.m. contemporary service. “One or two of our members hold up a Free Hugs sign in the breezeway and hug whoever wants one,” said Bob Schiffer, shown here on the far right with David and Dianne Tilney. “When the worshipers enter the sanctuary greeters meet them. The program has helped create a warmer atmosphere at our contemporary service.” The plan is to expand Free Hugs to all four of the congregation’s services.

HOLDS QUEST FOR TRUTH VBS — Trinity-Summerfield, FL, held Vacation Bible School three Saturday mornings in July. About 30 children joined “Dakota Joe and his pal Digger the dog” on a search for biblical truths. In keeping with the search theme, the Marion County sheriff’s department flew into the church parking lot so the children could see and hear how they search using the equipment on the helicopter. During the third week, Steve German and his llama, Miracle, made their annual visit. Shown here are Lt. Neal Dixon of the Marion County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit explaining to VBS students and members of Trinity how he uses his helicopter for search and rescue events.
